The world has lost a truly great man and my heart goes out to Angela and Brian on their loss. Denny was always understanding and genuinely interested in what you had to say, no matter if I was that rebellious teenager 30 years ago or the grown man today. His warmth and generosity touched everyone he met and those traits certainly live on in their wonderful children.

I met Dennis in 1986 when, as a military brat, I moved to the Peru area just before my senior year of high school at Maconaquah High. I became fast friends with his daughter, Angela, and from day one, he became "Pa Arnold" to me. I will always remember how warm and loving the Arnold home was, with JoAnn ("Ma Arnold") often at the kitchen table and Pa Arnold either watching TV or in and out with his work and various community commitments. When the Arnolds brought their beloved Labrador, Maggie, into the family, Pa Arnold was gaga. He lit up around that beautiful dog, surely in part because she helped fill the void when his other baby girl, Angela, left for college. Pa loved his family like no other, and his kids' friends were like his own kids. He lived his faith....which is so rare in today's world. My heart breaks for Ang and Brian...but they were richly blessed with one of the world's great dads. I rejoice that he is with his JoAnn and his Maggie again, telling jokes in heaven!
