Wilma J. Walker, 92, of Peru, passed away at 10:45 PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at The Waters of Peru. She was born in Pilot, Kentucky on October 4, 1933, the daughter of Sherman and Bernice Townsend McQuinn. Wilma married Marvin G. Walker on June 16, 1956 and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2022. Wilma was a 1951 graduate of Lucerne High School and worked as a telegrapher for Western Union Telegraph from 1952 through 1965. As a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, faith was extremely important to Wilma. She belongs to several organizations including the Altar & Rosary Society, The Daughters of Isabella, and the Masters Gardener Association. Wilma enjoyed being outside in the flower garden. When she wasn’t taking care of her flowers, one could find her inside baking her next delicious treat. She was always proud of her heritage and Kentucky roots, claiming that she was a “proud Appalachian woman.” Wilma is survived by her nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Janet (Frank) Jedliskowski of Philadelphia, Bonnie (Clyde) Chilcutt of Peru, Sharon (Donald) Weeks of Columbia City, Nancy Weeks of Peru, and brother-in-law Jim (Tyra) Walker of Peru. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, her sister Mary Merrill, her brother A. F. McQuinn, and a nephew John McQuinn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 19, 2026, at the St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St. Peru, with Fr. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St. Peru. There will be a prayer service at 4:00 PM, Sunday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to St. Charles Catholic Church.
